Complete: simplest.page
This month I designed, built, and deployed simplest.page.
You can read about it here.
This website turned out to be a pretty fun one to build all the way through. Most of the focus wasn’t actually on web development, but rather on the system itself. I wrote it in python, which as a very nice change of pace for me. It was pretty much essential to use python since I needed to interface with an email server, quality tools for which the node.js ecosystem seems to severely lack.
I think this site feels like it could definitely be expanded on. I’d like to play around with it for a bit, but it’s seeming like this method of posting has some potential. I think it’ll be best if it can take advantage of some email-specific features like replies and threading. Much more to think about here, and I will likely be returning to this one later this year.
This month’s project was the second one that could be considered much more “experimental“. I’d like to continue building sites that fit into this sort of vein, that aren’t just a simple web dev project but rather require thinking about the design of a much larger system.
