I've been wanting to start this project for a while so I thought might as well do it through here! my goal for the project is to create a web app that would be accessed on mobile (don't want to go through the hassle of making an ios and android app) that would give users the ability to take a picture of a flyer, and read information from that flyer to add to your google calendar. At NYU, there are walls filled with flyers for different events happening on campus. Those walls are usually the only way I can find out about the events, especially if I'm not tuned in to the right social channels. This means that my camera roll ends up full of flyer pictures throughout the week, where some might get lost, and others manually make it to my calendar. it's not a fun process, take a picture, by chance remember that it exists, add details into your calendar manually. so i thought, why not automate it. image recognition exists, google calendar has an api, why not just make my life easier. so here I am! Today i simply set up the google calendar api in my workspace, and authenticated my email :)
