Day 100!

I’ve learnt a lot and am still learning about my taste and sensibilities thru this project. What do I like? Why do I like it? What kinds of emotions does it evoke? What about it works? I find myself answering these questions as I’m searching for inspiration and again as I recreate the designs.

Consistency has been harder to find lately. I’m hoping that being more intentional about moodboarding will help with this. I’d like to moodboard every day so that way I already have an idea of the design I want to recreate as opposed to having to search for inspiration on the spot. That can take too long sometimes.

On to the next 100!

Day 50!

I started this journal as a way to help me get better as a visual designer. I’ve found this exercise of recreating designs to be very helpful. It does take me a while sometimes to find pieces that I want to copy, but that’s part of the challenge as well. The higher quality the designs are, the more I learn when I recreate them. It’s one thing to look at a piece of work and know that it’s good. But when you start to break it down and reconstruct it, you notice the details and start to understand why it works. I think that’s the most important part.
