Today was the final day of my 30hr Restorative Yoga Teacher Training. We started the day with Jefferson Guzman and ‘Yoga for Bigger Bodies’ followed by sequencing for different teaching circumstances. The afternoon was spent on breath, language and hands on assists.

Outside of briefly practicing headstands in YTT, with the support of a wall, I haven’t tried it since because it seemed too scary and difficult. I didn’t believe I could do it, so I didn’t try. Today I decided to take a break from practicing my community class sequence and try something new - I followed a YouTube class tailored to prepare the body for headstand. I wasn’t sure I would manage to balance, but I visualized myself in the pose, let go of my attachment to achievement and just had fun with it.

It’s still very much a work in progress (I need to work on using only my core strength and not momentum to get myself up), but I am excited about the possibility of incorporating more inversions into my regular practice.

This morning I taught my first public yoga class and I had 8 yogis show up to practice together with me. Seeing everyone deep in pranayama & savasana at the end of class looking so peaceful and serene was a powerful and beautiful experience 🕉

I felt pretty nervous and had butterflies even though I’ve been practicing for this moment. There are things that could have been better, but I’m feeling proud and excited to keep putting myself out there to continue to learn and grow 🌱
