Series 1: Pop Art [5/10]
After doing some research about pop art it seems the style of pop art (portraits) I have been doing for the past few days are inspired by Roy Lichtenstein. Roy was famous for his bright and bold paintings of comic strips and everyday objects. He also used Ben-Day dots; a system to increase tonal range in commercial printing using a dot screen method.
On the other hand, Andy Warhol specifically focused on everyday objects such as soup cans or cardboard boxes and made it into an icon. He would also use images of famous people (e.g., Shot Marilyns).
For my outputs, I think I will continue to focus on adopting Roy Lichtensteins style with bright colours and the use of dots. I will also try to depict distressed women as Roy did in his works as well.
